Tips from the Specialists

Sharpen your running form with these helpful tips

Sharpen your running form with these helpful tips:

Take quick, short steps instead of longer strides, which can hurt your lower back and tire you out.

Land lightly between your heel and mid foot and let your foot roll smoothly forward. Push off with toes.

Focus on something directly in front of you to prevent slouching.

Relax your arms and bend them 90 degrees, letting them swing front to back (not across your midline) between waist and lower-chest level. Cup your hands loosely.

Lean forward about 5 degrees to maintain momentum without sacrificing posture, (to get the approximate feel of 5 degrees, stand on both your feet, then shift your weight towards the ball of your feet without lifting heels)
